■■■□□ Japan: Cyberattack on Nichirei Disrupts Food Supply to All KFC Branches in Japan 🍔
Nichirei, a company that provides refrigerated and frozen storage, transportation, and distribution services for food products, has confirmed that attackers have successfully breached the company’s systems.
As a result of the incident, the company has disconnected some of its systems, which has caused significant disruptions to the operation of refrigerated warehouses and frozen food deliveries.
The company also stated that personal information was stored on some of the affected servers, and therefore, the company has reported a potential data breach to the Japanese Personal Information Protection Commission.
As a result of the attack, thousands of businesses in Japan are experiencing disruptions in receiving raw materials and other supplies, and KFC is among those affected.
Some KFC branches in Japan have already reported shortages of products, and as a result, menus have been changed/limited, operating hours have been shortened, and the option to place online orders has been suspended.
